A Sad Passover

There was a horrible shooting at the Jewish Community Center in Overland Park yesterday. Three people were killed by a maniac. Yes, I know his name, no I won’t use it. I took a class from Lt. Col. Dave Grossman who made a point of not mentioning the criminals name, only those of the victims. They wanted notority, I will not give it to them. This man was filled with hatered, and he choose to leave Missouri and go to Kansas to the Jewish Community Center. I suppose he figured if he opened fire in the parking lot he was bound to hit some. I’m not sure he did, a young boy Reat Underwood and his Grandfather, Dr. William Lewis Corporon I believe were members of Church of the Resurrection. Terri LaManno, who was shot at Village Shalom was a member at Saint Peter’s Catholic Church. Dr. Corporon and Terri both had jobs in the healthcare profession, they spent their lives trying to help others.

But when they needed help, there was none. Yes, the Jewish Community Center has an armed guard, and when they’ve had big events they have had a good off duty police presence. But since the Community Center is posted as a gun free zone, I am not sure how many would chose to carry and leave their gun in their cars. Since the shooting happened in the parking lot it would seem that no one there was able to intervene. Had they been able to, Terri would still be alive because he left the JCC and went to Village Shalom (which means peace, in Hebrew). Terri was killed as she was taking her Mother something to eat.

I’ve heard people say, “Why does God let these things happen” God has given us free will. We are not puppets on strings that he manipulates like marionettes. We CHOOSE how we will live our lives. We CHOOSE to follow good or evil. And there are most assuredly evil people out there. Which is why I’m a big proponent of concealed carry. Had there been someone in the parking lot who could have intervened, the outcome might have been very different. Then we would have been grateful his evil soul was roasting in hell with adolph hitler whose name he cried in the nazi fashion “heil hitler” as he was loaded into the squad car. No, I didn’t mean to capitalize any of that, why do you ask?

Now there will be many people celebrating a very sad passover. Yes, it is still a celebration of the deliverance from slavery, but family and friends, I’m sure will have a hard time with the pain during what should be such a happy time of year. My heart goes out to them.

The Problem

The Solution

Jews For The Preservation of Firearm Ownership

No, I’m not blood-thirsty, and my trigger finger isn’t just “itchin'” to shoot someone. But honestly, I can’t imagine anything much worse than watching someone you love or care about being attacked and having to stand by helplessly and watch. Unable to do something effective to stop it.

The End of the Chapter

I’ve been involved with a Second Amendment group in leadership since 2006. That role has now come to an end. It’s tough as I see a group that was once strong and unswerving in defense of state Second Amendment legislation begin to defer to the NRA, that doesn’t always have our best interests at heart. I listen to one board member say the group will never be a NRA rubber stamp. I would find that reassuring except I had just listened to another board member explain that we can’t fight the NRA because of their money they can donate to candidates. That the group doesn’t have that many members that will actually get out and help candidates. Is he judging all the members by himself? So the group will oppose legislators and publications that lie about the Second Amendment legislation, but not the NRA, because of their money. Now, what is that word……it’s just floating in the back of my memory, that word where you sell out principles for money….hmm. He then crowed proudly about the power of the NRA at getting an amendment stripped out of a bill. VERY impressive! The NRA got a one sentence useless amendment (See full story) stripped out of a good bill and you are proud of that? It doesn’t matter they lied about the bill? Something is seriously wrong here! You don’t want the members of a group that pay dues to be informed of what is going on in Jeff City to know that the NRA lied and they shouldn’t contact their legislators about an awful bill because the amendment doesn’t say what they said it says? You censor information that tells them this and you still think the group hasn’t become a NRA rubber stamp? WOWZA, I’d hate to see their definition of a rubber stamp then.

While I’m saddened to see the direction the group is going, there isn’t much I can do to stop it, and perhaps the ship will right itself. But if the members trusted me to tell them things honestly, I can’t be part of something that has made a choice to deceive them by censoring information. Isn’t that what the “lamestream” media does? No, I’m not built that way. And so, that chapter in the book ends.

I know God builds us all with a purpose in mind. Where he will lead me next is unknown. I do know there is enough going on right now just with some of my family members to keep me busy, and then it’s spring. There is always a lot of work on a farm in spring, I hope I can get caught up on chores I’m behind on. My horse let me know very clearly yesterday that he thinks he needs some of my time. I should have more now to happily give the big guy. So, now I end one chapter and turn the page. Time to start a new chapter.

I have this blog, and I like writing about whatever topic I choose. I also like the alternative censorship free avenue to share information. If you find an article that you think has info that would be of interest to someone, send them the link, please.

So, will I back down and shut up now?

That’s the view from my saddle! Let freedom ring!

When the guard is worse than the fox

I’m sure we would all like to think that those employed by the government to be in positions of keeping us safe, keeping law-breakers at bay are good at their jobs. Less and less that is becoming the case. The BATFE is again showing it’s true colors with Ares Armor.

Ares Armor sells gun parts, in particular what is called 80% receivers. They allow a person to buy them and then make their own AR-15 just the way the want it. Sort of like Burger King, only fewer calories, more fun and lasts longer.

It seems Ares Armor (and some other gun shops perhaps) have gotten some new receivers. These are plastic, in different colors, and have places indicating where to drill. This makes it less expensive and easier to build your own AR-15. What could be wrong? Well, it’s more who thinks somethings wrong.

The BATFE, the people who brought you Operation Gunwalker, aka Fast & Furious, are objecting. And since the BATFE think at shoestring can be a machine gun, that’s kind of scary.  Photo obtained from our friends at JPFO. They have a whole file of this kind of stuff.

ATF says a shoestring can be a machine gun

ATF says a shoestring can be a machine gun

So at first they attempted to extort, Ares Executive Officer Dimitrios Karras. He said they told him if he would just turn over the names of his customers they would leave all those names and newly illegal receivers and all will be well. Well, I’ll let Dimitri tell you. I like this guy.

So Ares got a restraining order, they offered to turn over the keys to the room the contested parts were in to ATF agents. The agents didn’t want the keys, they wanted the customer list. The list of who had bought the legal 80% lower receivers. Hmmmmm. The ATF and Ares had until March 20th to work out a solution. Oh, wait! That’s today, well that just can’t be right because Ares was raided over the weekend! It seems the ATF went to a judge WITHOUT Ares being present and told U.S. District Judge Janis Lynn Sammartino that it “is conducting a lawful criminal investigation of the illegal manufacture, distribution, sale, and possession of AR-15 variant lower receivers, which are considered firearms under the Firearms Control Act.”

What the agency’s application failed to mention, however, was that none of the items were a complete product — they were “80% lower receivers,” which remove them from the “firearm” definition to be classified as “parts.”

Judge Janis Lynn Sammartino then said that the restraining order didn’t mean what it meant and that they could go ahead and do the raid. Which the ATF did. They seized, all the 80% receiver parts, metal as well as polymer AND all Ares computers, and the lists. Well, aren’t we all going to sleep better at night now!

Photo from Dave Workman’s excellent article.

David Codrea brings up some excellent points in his coverage of this story. It seems BATFE may have become interested in the 80% receivers because a couple of two Sacramento brothers who were making and selling guns out of parts. Ares wasn’t doing anything wrong, the brothers were. According to David’s research

“According to the Department of Homeland Security, Emiliano Cortez is a Mexican national who has previously been deported and is illegally present within the United States,” the search warrant package declares. “Further, Emiliano Cortez is a convicted felon. In 2010, in Nevada County, California, Emiliano Cortez was convicted of possession of an assault weapon and sentenced to sixteen months in prison.

“According to the Department of Homeland Security, Luis Cortez is a Mexican national that is illegally present within the United States,” the warrant package adds.

Well, isn’t  that just precious! Rather than going after illegal aliens, barry’s “justice” department goes after a law abiding business! David also brings up the interesting point that if Ares was such a threat, why did they offer to forego the warrant if Ares would turn over their customer list? You can read David’s whole article here. And it is well worth the read.

Ares has been a strong supporter of the Second Amendment, and for that, the “justice” department must stop them. Another BATFE scandal in the making, and the response from our spineless congress? Was that yet another cricket I heard? YOUR tax dollars at work. I’m not sleeping sounder at night, are you?

To Fight or Not To Fight

So today what has been on my mind is the question to fight, or not. Some wars will never been won, but you fight them because it’s the right thing to do. You fight them because the alternative is to just give up and let evil succeed. We are seeing that WAY too much this days, in way to many arenas.

I may go down this rabbit trail more in the future, but for now I’ll just point you towards an excellent column by Mike Vanderboegh of Sipsey Street Irregulars.

It’s called The Window War, if only all Second Amendment Groups were so committed to freedom as just this group of regular folks!

Echoes of the Past, gun registration

When I first started really paying attention to Second Amendment Politics and shooting, someone brought up the movie Red Dawn. At the beginning of the movie the invaders (Russian and Cuban by the way) first stormed into Colorado, one of the first places they went was the sporting goods store to pull all the 4473s. That’s the form a person purchasing a firearm has to fill out. The seller then calls the information into NICS and the seller is told if the person is allowed to purchase the gun, not purchase, or is delayed for a maximum of 3 days. Why did they want the 4473s? For the same reason the Police did after Hurricane Katrina, so they could go door to door and collect them of course. You didn’t realize gun confiscation had happened in America? You didn’t realize it had happened more than once? Well, it started during the War for Independence.

So Connecticut has enacted some quite draconian gun control. They must register their legally owned rifles and magazines.

In line to register their legally owned guns. Germany and CT.

In line to register their legally owned guns. Germany and CT.

Some however, knew or remembered the past, and they refused to do so. The CT state police had a message for them. Notice, they already know who has them.

The people were told, they didn’t need guns. Law enforcement and the government will keep us safe.

So, how well did that work out?

So, how well did that work out?

As Lt. Col. Allen West points out, this has happened before. In fact, that’s where I got the idea for the title of this post. When someone with Lt. Col. West’s history points out the pattern, and similarities, I listen. Are you?

You realize what the marks are, right?

You realize what the marks are, right? I’d say when ANYONE mentions gun control.

But What If There Really IS A Fire?

But, What if there IS a Fire?

I know I’ve heard it said that the first one that starts calling someone a nazi lost the argument. It’s sort of like calling someone a racist these days. It’s done to shut down discussion. You aren’t suppose to yell “FIRE” in a crowded theater either, unless there really IS a fire. Now goodness knows, when George W. Bush was President, the left called him a nazi, did photos with the little hitler mustache, but THAT was different. Because then it was “free speech”. Because it was Bush, it doesn’t have to make sense, it’s progressives. Now, if you disagree on an ISSUE with barry, nothing against him, but the ISSUE, now that’s racist. It doesn’t have to make sense, it’s progressives.

So back to “nazis” and yelling “fire”. I didn’t live through WWII, I didn’t see it happen, and I didn’t see the aftermath. Even if I had, it would have been from a Stateside American’s point of view, meaning while I saw pictures of bodies and trenches and concentration camps, I didn’t see THEM. While I attended public school, and made good grades in history, I didn’t LIVE it. So my, as I suspect most people’s view’s, are formed by my education (or lack of) what I’ve learned on my own by reading and talking to people, or listening to what people have to say about a subject through different venues.

First up, we have Kitty Werthmann, she is a survivor of Austria under hitler. Here is what Kitty had to say about firearms: We also had gun registration. The Austrian people all had guns, but the government said, “guns are very dangerous. Children are playing with guns. Hunting accidents happen and we really have to have total control – safety. We have to trace criminals and the only way is by the serial number of the gun.” We dutifully went to the police station and we registered guns.

Not long after registering our guns, they said “no, it didn’t help. The only way we can prevent accidents and crimes is for you to turn-in your guns at the police station, and then we won’t have any crimes or any accidents.” If you didn’t turn in your guns – capital punishment. So we turned in our guns. If you have never read Kitty’s statement on hitler, and how he was elected by 98%, he didn’t roll into Austria with guns and tanks, you should read the whole thing. You can at http://beforeitsnews.com/opinion-conservative/2013/01/kitty-werthmann-85-yr-old-austrian-lived-under-hitler-speaks-of-socialism-and-gestapo-alan-colmes-salon-deems-her-a-wing-nut-2553926.html?currentSplittedPage=0

The left hates her. They can’t argue with the facts of her story, nor what she experienced, so they prefer to point out that she is totally off her rocker to say that she sees the same conditions arising here.

Next we have Irma. Irma was a caller to the Buck Sexton radio show on The Blaze (Glen Beck’s network). Irma lives in Massachusetts today, but she was born in 1930 under German fascism. It doesn’t matter much what you think about Glen Beck (personally, I like him) Irma was a call in, not a scheduled guest speaker on the show. She talked about how her Father fought tyranny all his life, and the price he paid for it. She talked about conditions in Germany under hitler and how she sees the same conditions and circumstances arising in this county. She lamented her lack of involvement and not speaking out sooner. At 84 she is attempting to rectify the situation, she points out, there is no place left to go. You can listen and read here: http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/12/28/i-fell-asleep-listen-to-survivor-of-german-fascism-reveal-her-one-regret-amid-disturbing-challenges-to-freedom-shes-witnessed-in-u-s/

Lastly we have a lady that was a patient of mine at a hospital I worked at. I will call her Hilga. Hilga was a concentration camp survivor. She seldom, ok, only once, talked about it. We had a discussion once about guns. I don’t even remember what brought it up, but she remarked that “guns scare me”. I said I wasn’t surprised, that it isn’t the gun that is the enemy. The gun is an inanimate object, a piece of metal with no will or mind of it’s own. It’s the hand the gun is held in that will determine if it is used for good or evil! I asked her, if more Jews had been armed, what do you think would have happened? Do you really think adults would have let their families be drug off to concentration camps? I told her I really didn’t think so, the only reason they could so easily do what they did, was the lack of armed resistance. She seemed skeptical. One day she cornered me in the locker room, she was upset and agitated. She came to her point quickly “I left Germany to get away from this crap (she used another word) and now I see it happening here! The same things I saw over there, I’m now seeing happen over here! Where am I suppose to go now? What am I suppose to do now?” She is afraid to speak out, leftover no doubt from her experience. Other than the IRS, DOJ, NSA, progressives targeting someONE who they disagree with (really? Ask Phil Robertson) what possible reason could she have to be afraid? There wasn’t much I could say to her, I told her I didn’t see that easily happening here, many American citizens are armed. Did she think we would allow our Jewish neighbors, or friends, or ANY neighbors or friends to be easily hauled off by the government? She looked at me dubiously. I told her as long as we remained armed, it wouldn’t happen. I said now, when they do go for the guns, look for things to happen very, very quickly.

So what brings all this up now you ask? I picture I saw recently, on FaceBook and then there was an alert sent out by JPFO, http://jpfo.org/alerts2014/alert20140102.htm

It involved Gun Owners in Connecticut lining up to register their legally owned firearms. The photo on FaceBook showed it above a photo of Gun Owners in Weimar Germany….I’m guessing they know what they’re talking about.

JPFO (Jews For The Preservation of Firearm Ownership) says Connecticut is moving one step closer to confiscation http://jpfo.org/alerts2014/alert20140302.htm

And it looks like the Sipsey Street Irregulars have sent an open letter to the men and women of the State Police. http://sipseystreetirregulars.blogspot.com/2014/02/an-open-letter-to-men-and-women-of.html

There is that normalcy bias problem, people don’t want to see what is coming based on what is happening NOW. The see the signs, but it doesn’t mean here what it meant when it showed up in other countries.

Our elected officials are doing what about it? Crickets?? Well, no, Wrong Way jay nixon is following in the imperial barry’s footsteps and using executive orders to defy the will of the people.

Remember I said there is more than one way to get legislators who WILL listen to the governed? Well, it seems jolly old England has their very own version of the Tea Party, only it’s not a faction of the previously conservative party. It’s a new, separate party. Listen to this: Cameron has radically overhauled the “Tories,” embracing nationalized health care, fighting for gay marriage, and changing the party logo from the flame of liberty to an environmentally conscious tree. This, UKIP argues, makes them indistinguishable from the left-wing Labour Party and Liberal Democrats.

It is here where UKIP spied an opportunity, adopting an anti-establishment, populist platform that argues for lower taxation, smaller government and getting Britain out of the European Union.

The message is proving effective. UKIP look likely to make significant inroads in the next general election in 2015, possibly snatching seats away from the main parties. And that’s only a snippet! You can read the whole thing here: http://www.foxnews.com/world/2014/01/04/britain-version-tea-party-rocks-political-system-across-pond/

Stodgy old England has beat us to the punch, or tea. But either way, the threat will likely make some waffling Tories consider straightening up and flying, well, right as it were. Perhaps it can be a path for us or US as it were.

For a Safe and Controlled America

One of the things that just really concerns me, and makes me angry is the government’s move deeper into the “Big Brother” role.  All this new spying on citizens technology. People say “well, if you aren’t doing anything wrong, then why worry”?  Well, for one, I like my privacy. For two, and more importantly because we have a government that in very invested in making more and more everyday things illegal. There is now legislation to make using wood to heat your home illegal on the table. Who would have ever thought they would see the day when 32 oz. drinks were illegal. No, not alcoholic, SODA POP for goodness sake! PARENTS have been fined for what they sent with their children to eat for lunch. People need to think about what can become illegal in the future.

Our congress critters (including my own Representative and Senators)  seem completely clueless when it comes to NSA spying. Our Senators voted that it was fine to use drones to spy on American citizens. No, not suspects, just any citizen. My Representative sent out a email crowing about how the NSA will keep us safe from terrorism and that Edward Snowden was a traitor. Maybe to her, not to MANY Americans who are grateful to find out how their government has been using the money they confiscated from their subjects. I don’t think she (the Representative) grasps that the “terrorists” that she is so happy that the NSA will find are HER usual campaign donors. Or in my case, former donor. The kind of people that worked on and donated to her campaign are the kind of people the NSA and IRS consider “terrorists”.

Yep, both sides of the aisle are now bi-partisan in selling out average Americans. Oh yea for bi-partisanship, right?

bipartisan

I think the ACLU is a communist (they don’t get capital letters) organization, but I think they got this one right! Remember in Missouri, Oklahoma and who knows how many other states Concealed Carry holders have had their data, including a biometric photo turned over to the government data base run by MorphoTrust, a French company in Georgia. Well, as well as the SSA and BATFE. Once they have it, what they do with it is up to them, isn’t it?

In Defense of Chickens, or Children

I ran across and interesting article today on allowing armed Teachers in schools. It points out that the “gun free zone” model isn’t working out well. It never does work out well. Pretty much all the mass shootings that have taken place over the last few years have taken place in “gun free zones”. Alan Korwin over at GunLaws.com has a great answer in his “Gun Free Zones Liability Act” . In short: “If you create a gun-free zone, you’re liable for any harm it causes.” I’d go over there and check out more.

That’s not really today’s topic though. The article points out that school boards says they don’t want to arm teachers or basically “the good guys” because they can’t get insurance, or it’s “too expensive”. Guess that lets you know what your kids are worth, eh? The article points out that most school districts adopt the “huddle and pray” policy. I seemed to recall someone else telling me that keeping the kids “safe” in lock down just pretty much makes it easy for the killer to find bunches of them huddling and praying. The media rather than honestly reporting things has their own agenda. Seems like most times a gun is used successfully in a defensive manner they can’t help but get their little comment in about how it’s so amazing bystanders weren’t killed in the spray (2 bullets fired) of gunfire. Or they show film clips of a fully automatic weapon firing while taking about a semi-automatic weapon and the uninformed have no idea of the difference. Right now 7 states allow armed teachers and  33 others are considering doing so.

If you look to Israel, they had a series of horrible school shootings, as well as terrorist attacks on the civilian populations in many venues. What did they do? They have armed people in the schools. Lt. Col. Dave Grossman points out there are ways to help your school prepare for such scenarios. He also pointed out that if we pulled every active duty military member in from overseas and those based in the US we still wouldn’t have enough to put one in every school and on every bus. But if parents or teachers were used? OH YEAH, then it was possible. Somehow I don’t think this will fit well with the common (rotten to the) core standards that have been adopted by current Gov. Jay Nixon (not the general assembly or educational board though).

Israel objected to being dragged into the debate (I don’t blame them) From the Jerusalem Post

Israeli officials and academics, however, distanced themselves from comparing the gun situations in Israel and the US. Foreign Ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor said the situation in Israel was “fundamentally different” from that in the United States.

“We didn’t have a series of school shootings, and they had nothing to do with the issue at hand in the United States. We had to deal with terrorism,” Palmor told the Daily News.

“What removed the danger was not the armed guards but an overall anti-terror policy and anti-terror operations which brought street terrorism down to nearly zero over a number of years,” he said.

“It would be better not to drag Israel into what is an internal American discussion.”

While I very much agree there are different faces of evil here, in Israel it is sometimes done to gain the release of terrorist buddies and sometimes to just flat kill all, in America it is the product of a sick mind and there is nothing to gain and only death sought by the killer/s. It’s interesting to note that it seems all these mass shootings of late have been done by those with a “progressive/liberal” political philosophy though those in the “impartial” (gag gag gag, excuse me for a second) media immediately jump to find links between the killer/s and the conservative movement. But no matter the REASON for the attacks, the result is the same. Dead innocents, children or adults. The answer is the same too, decrease the response time till someone with effective means is there to handle it. You don’t get much better response time than someone already there.

So, how long do we live in the problem, or with the specter of the problem looming over school children (or shoppers, or people in church)? How long will people continue to trust a media more concerned with their own ideology rather than reporting the truth? Seriously? Obama got re-elected & Hillary is considering running, if we had a NEWS media, never would be!

So where do the chickens come in you ask? A few years ago I had a racoon getting into my chicken house and I ended up losing a third of my little feathered darlings. I was beyond livid. It finally showed up in my barn, short version of the story, it died. Killings stopped after I lost a third of them. Last year a possum got in my chicken house (they got in different ways, both have been addressed) I walked in to gather eggs and it was eating one of my little feathered darlings. Possum died. I lost one girl that time. Response time matters, it matters a LOT. Did I feel bad about killing either of them? NO! Those chickens are MY responsibility. I’ve raised them from a day old. I wanted them, they didn’t necessarily want to come live with me (although it’s a pretty good gig for them). How is it, I’m more willing and prepared to take care of my little feathered darlings than some parents, teachers and school districts are actual human children? I do NOT understand that.

Has Gun Owners of America Opened a Ukraine Branch?

Reading about and watching videos of the recent violence in the Ukraine (and Venezuela) is a very vivid reminder of what happens to people who aren’t armed because they have the government to “take care of them and protect them”. As I watch this first video it seems to me most of the citizens (protesters) are armed with wood, as shields and as clubs, some shields made of what looks like sheet metal maybe? They want freedom so much, they don’t want to go back to communism, they want to go closer to Europe, which is socialist, in my opinion. I suppose compared to communism it  is “more free”. I understand the protesters have some hunting rifles, but in the video clip they look like they are armed mostly with clubs and the will to be free, as they are fired on by the governmental snipers.  In some of the video clips I’ve seen the protesters are wearing hard hats, bicycle helmets maybe some old military helmets. Some have no helmets.

But from today’s TownHall  Katie Pavlich tells us that since the protesters were victorious they are demanding some new Constitutional Amendments. One proposed by the “Ukrainian Gun Owners Association” is: Amend Article 27, paragraph four as follows:
“Everyone has the right to freedom of owning a firearm to protect their life and health, housing and property, life and health of other people’s constitutional rights and freedoms in the case of usurpation of power , the encroachments on the constitutional order , sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine . Exercising the right to free possession of firearms is governed by applicable law and may be limited only by the court on the individual. “

They sound like America’s Gun Owners of America to me!

The Ukrainians are fighting so hard for what so many in America are trying to throw away with both hands, the right to live as free people, safe from thugs (of all stripes). When Americans say we don’t need a Second Amendment, that it doesn’t mean what it means, they are living in a fools world.

Because they don’t think it would ever happen here.

Would it?

To Correct Bad Behavior or Not?

How many times have you been in a store and seen a 3 year old brat giving his parents a fit. He/she wants a toy, wants it right now and if he/she doesn’t get it the whole store is treated to screams of boorish outrage. Then do you see the parent cringing under the unappreciative glares of fellow shoppers? Or do they do the  ineffective, “I’m going to count to three, one, two, three, no Freddie, I mean it, now, one, two, three Fredrick Joseph I’m serious, one, two, three. By then you are ready to go slap the parent! As a parent you can either correct this behavior or be treated to some form of it for the rest of your, or his/her life.

Any other horse people out there? I have a 1300 lb critter with a mind of his own. Most of the time we work well together, but when I first got him we could be working in a round corral and if he didn’t appreciate what he was trying to learn he would send a hoof flying my way like a 15 year old boy with a bad attitude and flip me the hoof. I can either correct this nonsense (which I choose to do) or one of these days that flying hoof may catch me. I can either correct it when he starts to buck or run over the top of me or I can live with the consequences. I choose not to.

So this brings me to the point of the column for today. I have taken some pretty heavy incoming fire for criticizing the NRA over their bad behavior on SB 613 here in Missouri. But I tend to view it in the same light as the examples above. WHY do we have a Attorney General who would so obviously lie about what the 2013 version of the Second Amendment Protection Act would have done? Why do we have an AG that would release a lie filled letter one week before the veto override vote when legislators and law enforcement wouldn’t have enough time to properly check it out? Wellllllll, because the NRA endorsed him. Yep, that batch of orange cards went out and voters went to the polls. Now, the WMSA and GOA , and GCLA (two of those are the Grassroots Second Amendment Groups in MO) endorsed Ed Martin, a good man who would have been a great Attorney General. But the NRA voters weren’t properly informed. Did the media call out the AG on his lies? Not so much, some like this column at the bottom, but the “lamestream” media, naw, they gave Koster’s lies a pass.  Now, Second Amendment groups howled, we KNEW he was lying, Sen Nieves said at the second rally that the letter was filled with lies. The NRA did nothing to help, and continued to quietly signal their disapproval of this bill. But we knew Koster lied, and we said so!

That brings us to the NRA and their lies on this years version of the SAPA. They lied in their press release as bad as Koster does. They have not sent a correction. I guess they looked at how Koster got away with it and decided it works well. If this were a liberal lying we would be on them likes ducks on a June bug. In a heartbeat! But because it’s the NRA, we shouldn’t say anything? Because they are our “friends” (a point I would hotly debate) we should give outrageous lies against a friend (Sen. Nieves) a pass? I don’t think so!

A friend of mine pointed out 10 years ago the NRA sold out gun owners on the Assault Weapons ban, the members rose up howled and let them know how angry they were, now the NRA is backing the AR shooters against the Federal Leviathan. Because enough people contacted them and told them the error of their ways. Well, and wine and Life lock sales probably dropped off.

If the NRA doesn’t learn that members are VERY unhappy with them, if NRA members don’t tell their friends to contact them and howl, the NRA like a spoiled child, or a misbehaving animal will continue down it’s path. And no NRA members are going to learn what is going on if they aren’t told. This doesn’t sound like a winning strategy to me!

Will we cover up our “friends” bad behavior, or will we tell them they are wrong? We do not support them and will not cover for them if they choose to continue down this path. Personally I seldom listen to the NRA voter endorsements for MO, they usually get it wrong.

It’s hard when you have a “spat” with a friend or a loved one. But when what they are doing hurts innocent parties (law abiding Missouri gun owners) and hurts the cause of Liberty it’s a choice. You have principles (lying to harm someone is wrong) or you don’t.

Your call, what do you think?  compromise

I’ll leave you with this, I think the words to this song are pretty good.
